We decided to get our Museumkaarts, (40 euro, gets you free admission to most of the museums in holland (not just amsterdam) for 1 year. So we walked to the rijksmuseum:

this bridge is about a half block from the apartment we've rented for march-- we checked it out today, and it looks amazing from the outside!

here you go, this is amsterdam in a nutshell: canal, houseboats, gabled homes, and bicycles..

ryan with rembrandt, or as i like to call it, ryan with someone taller than he is!

thumbs up on rembrandtplein. it's a pretty cool place.

I don't have any pictures of the rijsmuseum for 2 reasons: 1, I accidentally checked my camera in my coat, and 2, when i took out the video camera that takes stills too, the guard RAN over to tell me no pictures allowed. I have some ideas on that, though. i'll get back to you.

then we walked to vondelpark for our picnic.

first we did some bargain shopping:

ryan did say he would buy me a dress in europe.... ;)

our picnic spot, post a little trip to a dutch grocery

and a picnic.

these birds were quite, quite interested in what we were eating, and not at all afraid. and then all of a sudden, about 50 pigeons and seagulls joined these guys, and ryan says, "Hey, we're not feeding any of you! who started the rumors??" haha, such a funny husband.

this little duck kept coming up and opening his beak quite plantitively at ryan's baguette. but you'll have to take my word for it, because he was shy of the camera.

ryan says this is NOT milk. he's not sure what it is, but he did spit it right out on the ground. he asked me to post this, and let you all know, should you come to holland, that this? this stuff? it's not milk.

after lunch, we strolled through the park and visited the shire...

and a wonky tree...

and the obviously small houses from the dutch golden age. i believe these were the slums...

happy ryan in vondelpark

afternoon mint infusion, yum!

and after this, and 10 miles of walking, i thought a nap would be a good way to spend an hour, maybe 2. ryan hates naps, so he was in charge of the getting up. instead, he also fell asleep, and at 10:45, I woke up, and at that point, we decided to forgo dinner, and just sleep instead. of course, i woke up again at 3:00 to work on this a little. anyway, we're good now, so look forward to some pictures of de bakkerswinkel deliciousness for breakfast!
