yum yum yummies...

here's some food we've eaten recently, and please remember: the dutch food is not as common as the international. thank you.

REAL poffertjes. if they look sweet and ridiculous, it's because they are.

ryan says next time, hold the syrup and half the powdered sugar.

we made this from things at the grocery!

and that is my little cheese plate. have you ever had goat cheese blended with honey? splendid, i tell you. spread it on a cracker with a slice of apple. you will be happy you did.

i made ryan go to thai food with me. this place was ranked the best thai in amsterdam, but i think it was mostly memorable for the servers, who were quite a sight.

even the dinner mints were blue and white. that's coordination.

hot chocolate. i know.

rick steves says to try rijstaffel, which is an indonesian specialty of a bunch of small portions of different things served with rice. i had to get a mini one, cause ryan's not eating it.

indonesian beer.

ryan actually ate that steamed bun. and said it was good. the spring rolls were tasty too.

mini rijstaffel. that's a cucumber, chicken in onion sauce, a hard boiled egg half with curry, green beans and bean curd, beef marinated in coconut milk, and a pile of fried coconut and peanuts. the other plate is sate. it was so good. except the chicken, but ryan ate it anyway.

ryan had pork. it came with shrimp crackers. hmmmm

and an assortment of licorice, gummies and chocolate to end.
